Cello bows

I have cello bows ranging in price from $300.00 to $5000.00.  I specialize in bows made of Pernambuco.   I carefully hand select each bow for its weight, balance, quality of wood, quality of workmanship, and style.  I am confident that if you are looking for a bow, you will find one you like.

Bows between $300.00 and $600.00 are generally Pernambuco with nickel silver mountings.

Bows between $600.00 and up are generally Pernambuco with silver mountings, or in some cases gold mountings.

The "Ex Robert Jamieson"  Martin Beilke Cello Bow

Robert Jamieson started playing cello at the age of 7 in California.  By High School, he was performing professionally in the Brodetsky ensemble.  In 1946, he won the L.A. Philharmonic Young Artists Competition.  At the age of 23, Bob joined the L.A. Philharmonic as the the assistant principal cellist.  He also played for many motion picture soundtracks in Hollywood.  Bob moved to New York in 1948, and joined the New York City Opera and Ballet, toured wtih the NBC Symphony under Arturo Toscanini, and studied and performed at Tanglewood.  Bob became the Principal cellist of the Minneapolis Symphony (now the Minnesota Orchestra) in 1951, and retired from that position in 1991.  Bob played in a variety of chamber groups.  Bob taught cello to hundreds of students at the University of Minnesota, Universtiy of St. Thomas, University of St. Catherine, Macalester College, and out of his own private studio.  He passed away in 2018.

After Bob passed away, his family asked me to sell his cellos and bows.  Bob owned a number of bows over the course of his career, and was an excellent judge of bows.

Martin Beilke was a violin maker first, but later devoted all his energy to bow making.  Many of the best musicians of his era played on his bows.

The bow is numbered, and was made by Beilke in 1963.  It is accompanied by an original handwritten signed letter from Beilke to Bob with a full description and measurements.
